| Praise be to God. The day I left for the third mission into Zimbabwe two weeks ago, my neurosurgeon gave me the results of my latest brain scan- “no evidence of previous tumour and no evidence of further tumour growth”. God has been working powerfully and supernaturally in our lives, all praise to Him.
Let us take a few steps back. A supernatural event happened in front of my own eyes and those of my friends a few weeks ago in my lounge at home. While praying, the copper ‘antioxidant’ bangle I wore started cutting into my wrist, cutting into the skin, so much so that it cut off my circulation and my hand started turning blue. I violently bent it off and for a few moments, in total bewilderment, a friend and I stared at each other and the scarring imprint on my wrist. What just happened and what did it mean? I believe God confirmed to me again and showed me that I am healed and do not need ‘antioxidant’ bracelets. However, how far should I take Him on this I wondered? So that night, four weeks ago, in faith, I stopped taking the anti-seizure medication I have had to take ‘religiously’ since my brain operations. To date, no seizures and just a blank stare from the neurosurgeon when I told him.
I’ve just returned from our third trip into Zimbabwe this year. It is a privilege to do what I do. It is often not easy, but the difficulties and obstacles are always outweighed by the blessings from God, and I want to thank those of you that support us and allow us to serve the needs in Africa.
“Being sure of where we are going when we die”, was the prevailing question put to me by the lost during the latest Zimbabwe trip. What a privilege to know and be sure of the answer, and then to see that person walk off knowing they are Saved!
While the trip involved the delivery of 400 water filters, distributing clothing and children’s toys to two orphanages and an old age home, the priority of the mission was a Bible run, distributing hundreds of Bibles to Christians that did not possess the Word and evangelising to the lost about the good news of our Saviour Jesus Christ.
We encountered many challenges during the trip, including a 14 hour border crossing, getting sick, having to spend nights (once below freezing) in the Land Rover, and being robbed twice. Along with all my clothing, the thieves took my digital and video camera equipment, and my Bible. Desperate times cause people to do desperate things, and I pray that my Bible (that was never meant for me to keep) is read, and saves souls! What a wonderful story that would be! The Land Rover covered 6000km/3700miles, until a bearing in the alternator seized on our home stretch and knocked out the electrics, melting the lights. It is in these episodes that I am encouraged through Paul’s teachings rejoicing in all things and situations.
As said earlier, these things were overshadowed by the glory and blessings of our God. We shared in the sincere joy of hungry believers receiving their very own Holy Word. We watched how the squint eye of a pastor straightened in front of our very eyes while praying for him, and we saw the peace of God come over men who did not know where they would be going when they died, accepting Jesus and then being sure of their salvation in Jesus Christ.
Our Saviour is good and He is working powerfully in Africa.
Thank you again, for supporting, for investing in, and for allowing this God directed ministry to ‘serve the needs in Africa’, extending the Kingdom further and deeper.
Leo
